This made me laugh so hard that I think I may have scared the dog.

Here is an application for, uh, progressives to enter Divinity School.

Obama calls him what?

Obama calls white policeman who arrested scholar

Obama calls white policeman who arrested scholar

We already know what he called him… he called him STUPID. And the time to apologize for that as an “inelegantly calibrated comment” was immediately after he made it, not a day later and an apology short, after the media turned up the heat a bit, and Obama went into damage control mode.

Of course, reflexive bashing of white police officers is practically required in the circles Obama runs in.  And they’ll all know what he REALLY meant, and they’ll accept that the apology is a sham, and that will be that.

UPDATE:  I wonder if he ever called Joe the Plumber to apologize for the comments he made about a private citizen, or for the hatchet job his campaign machinery and media lapdogs did on Joe.

Tweet Your Prayers

Welcome to Tweet Your Prayers, the website that guides you how to tweet your prayers to the Western Wall in Jerusalem, also known as The Kotel!

I simply don’t know what to say, except that if you think praying this way is more likely to get your prayer heard by God, you may BE a TWIT.

Pharmaceutical Firms Need Incentives to Create Drugs and Vaccines against Emergent Threats

Pharmaceutical firms need incentives, including lucrative patents, to keep creating drugs and vaccines against emergent threats such as the H1N1 influenza pandemic, the World Health Organisation’s head said on Tuesday.

“Progress in public health depends on innovation. Some of the greatest strides forward for health have followed the development and introduction of new medicines and vaccines,” said WHO Director-General Margaret Chan said.

Chan, who last month declared a full pandemic underway from the H1N1 virus, said that patents can help ensure that companies develop medicines to “stay ahead of the development of drug resistance” in diseases like malaria and tuberculosis.

The discovery of isolated H1N1 infections that resist the anti-viral Tamiflu, made by Roche and Gilead, and the global scramble to secure flu vaccines have shown the importance of robust research and development, Chan said.

“Innovation is needed to keep pace with the emergence of new diseases, including pandemic influenza caused by the new H1N1 virus,” she told a meeting on intellectual property and health, a contentious issue that has divided rich and poor nations, Reuters reports.

Even the Russians seem to understand something Obama does not: without the incentive of profit, pharmaceutical innovation slows or stops. Along with other kinds of medical innovation, of course.

How the mighty fall

Category: Uncategorizedharmonicminer @ 9:16 am

A friend of mine clued me in to this particular video.  In it, a train, a seemingly unstoppable object, is derailed by a tornado.  It’s quite dramatic.

There are forces that can overpower the mightiest institution, driving it right off the tracks.  If history teaches anything, it teaches that.

It is the sin of pride to think that your particular institution is invulnerable to those forces.

Failing to pay attention to the weather report is dangerous.  Unfortunately, when the company picnic has already been scheduled, it can be difficult to be the one who has to inform the company social director that the barometric pressure is falling….  fast.

Global government? Oh, joy

Gore: Cap-and-Trade Will Bring Global Government

Former Vice President Al Gore told a British conference on the environment that the energy tax under the so-called cap-and-trade legislation in Congress would bring about global governance.

Speaking at the Smith School World Forum on Enterprise and the Environment in Oxford, England, Gore said the United States is responding to the threat of global warming with the cap-and-trade legislation, Times Online reported.

“Just two weeks ago, the House of Representatives passed the Waxman-Markey climate bill,” Gore told the conference. “[This is] very much a step in the right direction. It achieves real reductions below the 1990 base level by 2020, and that is the threshold that many have said will dramatically increase the prospects for success.”

Gore acknowledged that the bill includes a carbon tax that President Barack Obama supports and is helping to push through the Senate.

“For all of its flaws, [it] does put a price on carbon,” he admitted.

Gore, whose film documentary, “An Inconvenient Truth,” on the claims of global warming won him praise from environmentalists, told the forum that Obama had secured billions of dollars from Congress for renewable energy work.

But, “It is the awareness itself that will drive the change,” he said. “And one of the ways it will drive the change is through global governnance and global agreements.”

Obama’s real values on display?

Category: Uncategorizedharmonicminer @ 9:18 am

If I wrote this, someone might call me a racist, so I’ll leave it up to a Christian lady of proper pigmentation to make some very important points.  Read it all.  Then pray for our president to have his eyes opened.

Star Parker : When color trumps Christianity

President Obama hosted a reception at the White House celebrating LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) Pride month. Black Christians should take note and learn a few things about our black President.

As they say, we are what we do.

It tells us something that Mr. Obama had no time to host an event for the National Day of Prayer.

Nor did he have time to accept the invitation to convey greetings and a few remarks to the couple hundred thousand who came to Washington, as they do every January, for the March for Life.

However, the LGBT Pride event did make it onto the president’s busy schedule.
