Things are looking tense around here.<\/a><\/p>\n

15 So man will be brought low
\nand mankind humbled,
\nthe eyes of the arrogant humbled.<\/p>\n

16 But the LORD Almighty will be exalted by his justice,
\nand the holy God will show himself holy by his righteousness.<\/p>\n

17 Then sheep will graze as in their own pasture;
\nlambs will feed [f] among the ruins of the rich.<\/p>\n

18 Woe to those who draw sin along with cords of deceit,
\nand wickedness as with cart ropes,<\/p>\n

19 to those who say, “Let God hurry,
\nlet him hasten his work
\nso we may see it.
\nLet it approach,
\nlet the plan of the Holy One of Israel come,
\nso we may know it.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Maybe we aren’t supposed to be trying to create the perfect society after all?<\/p>\n

20 Woe to those who call evil good
\nand good evil,
\nwho put darkness for light
\nand light for darkness,
\nwho put bitter for sweet
\nand sweet for bitter.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

That’s pretty clear. Isn’t it?<\/p>\n

21 Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes
\nand clever in their own sight.<\/p>\n

22 Woe to those who are heroes at drinking wine
\nand champions at mixing drinks,<\/p>\n

23 who acquit the guilty for a bribe,
\nbut deny justice to the innocent.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

And exactly who are the most innocent among us? You know, don’t you?<\/p>\n

24 Therefore, as tongues of fire lick up straw
\nand as dry grass sinks down in the flames,
\nso their roots will decay
\nand their flowers blow away like dust;
\nfor they have rejected the law of the LORD Almighty
\nand spurned the word of the Holy One of Israel.<\/p>\n

25 Therefore the LORD’s anger burns against his people;
\nhis hand is raised and he strikes them down.
\nThe mountains shake,
\nand the dead bodies are like refuse in the streets.
\nYet for all this, his anger is not turned away,
\nhis hand is still upraised.<\/p>\n

26 He lifts up a banner for the distant nations,
\nhe whistles for those at the ends of the earth<\/a>.
\nHere they come,
\nswiftly and speedily!<\/p>\n

27 Not one of them grows tired or stumbles,
\nnot one slumbers or sleeps;
\nnot a belt is loosened at the waist,
\nnot a sandal thong is broken.<\/p>\n

28 Their arrows are sharp,
\nall their bows are strung;
\ntheir horses’ hoofs seem like flint,
\ntheir chariot wheels like a whirlwind.<\/p>\n

29 Their roar is like that of the lion,
\nthey roar like young lions;
\nthey growl as they seize their prey
\nand carry it off with no one to rescue.<\/p>\n

30 In that day they will roar over it
\nlike the roaring of the sea.
\nAnd if one looks at the land,
\nhe will see darkness and distress;
\neven the light will be darkened by the clouds.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
