it would appear that there is a pretty clear connection<\/a> between the Fort Hood murderer and a radical imam who was also influential on some of the 9\/11 killers:<\/p>\n

Major Nidal Malik Hasan worshipped at a mosque led by a radical imam
\nsaid to be a “spiritual adviser” to three of the hijackers who attacked
\nAmerica on Sept 11, 2001.<\/p>\n

Hasan, the sole suspect in the massacre of 13 fellow US
\nsoldiers in Texas, attended the controversial Dar al-Hijrah mosque in
\nGreat Falls, Virginia, in 2001 at the same time as two of the September
\n11 terrorists<\/strong>, The Sunday Telegraph has learnt. His mother’s funeral was held there in May that year.<\/p>\n

The preacher at the time was Anwar al-Awlaki, an
\nAmerican-born Yemeni scholar who was banned from addressing a meeting
\nin London by video link in August because he is accused of supporting
\nattacks on British troops and backing terrorist organisations. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Hasan’s eyes “lit up” when he mentioned his deep respect for
\nal-Awlaki’s teachings, according to a fellow Muslim officer at the Fort
\nHood base in Texas, the scene of Thursday’s horrific shooting spree.<\/p>\n

As investigators look at Hasan’s motives and mindset, his attendance
\nat the mosque could be an important piece of the jigsaw. Al-Awlaki
\nmoved to Dar al-Hijrah as imam in January, 2001, from the west coast,
\nand three months later the September 11 hijackers Nawaf al-Hamzi and
\nHani Hanjour began attending his services. A third hijacker attended
\nhis services in California.<\/p>\n

Hasan was praying at Dar al-Hijrah at about the same time, and the
\nFBI will now want to investigate whether he met the two terrorists.<\/p>\n

Charles Allen, a former under-secretary for intelligence at the
\nDepartment of Homeland Security, has described al-Awlaki, who now lives
\nin Yemen, as an “al-Qaeda supporter, and former spiritual leader to
\nthree of the September 11 hijackers… who targets US Muslims with
\nradical online lectures encouraging terrorist attacks from his new home
\nin Yemen”….<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I wonder how much coverage this connection will get in US media.<\/p>\n
