In the end this is a justice issue, not a race issue. Either Zimmerman is a murderer, or he acted in self defense. The case will drag on for a long time, and at the end, I don’t think either side will be particularly satisfied.

I have not been able to avoid spam by just using spam catchers, so I now don’t allow first time commenters to get a comment up without me checking to be sure it isn’t spam. After that, your comments go up automatically, so there shouldn’t be a delay after this.

Having said that, your comment that “If George Zimmerman was black and killed a teenaged white kid he would have been hanged already” is surely hyperbole, no? Death penalty cases take FOREVER, and there would be plenty of time for Zimmerman’s defense to unfold as self-defense (if that is indeed the case…. I have no idea from where I sit, only knowing what shows up in the media). Do you really think the courts are so racist that they don’t allow self-defense claims made by blacks who defend themselves from white attackers?

The people who are “stuck in the 50s” (your comment on another thread) are on the left, not the right. The Left still thinks it’s 1954 in Selma, and talks like that, as you seem to. But this is 2012, and things in the USA are VERY different.

If George Zimmerman was black and killed a teenaged white kid he would have been hanged already. Its conservatives that lobby for “stand your ground” type laws. Considering the NRA isnt known for its liberal leanings, Karen Finney isnt that far off.

I tuned out when the Race Hustlers barged in. Soooo sickeningly predictable. Nothing wrong with packing heat as long as you do it responsibly. It takes a lot of training to learn how and when to use a firearm in self-defense, and I hope these stand your ground laws aren't giving good citizens an excuse to cut corners.
