Should this be a firing offense?

ABC apologizes for trying to tie Tea Party member to killings in Colorado

An earlier ABC News broadcast report suggested that a Jim Holmes of a Colorado Tea Party organization might be the suspect, but that report was incorrect. ABC News and Brian Ross apologize for the mistake, and for disseminating that information before it was properly vetted.

ABC should put this in BOLD PRINT at the top of every story it runs online for the next week, as well as the first thing said at the beginning of every news broadcast for the next week. And ABC should send the innocent man whom they defamed a lot of money. That might represent an honest apology.

Maybe.

In the meantime, it’s clear that the media is always looking for a way to tie mass murder to conservatives if possible, but is strangely silent about other ideological connections when it’s an Islamic killer shouting about Allah as he pulls the trigger.

Why does Brian Ross still have a job? This is inexcusable.

Are we now ready for the tidal wave of gun control arguments? This whole thing seemed so methodically planned that it really begs the question–did he have some sort of accomplice?
