A Green fantasy: Police enforcement powers

Category: Uncategorizedsardonicwhiner @ 7:42 pm

I was watching the Superbowl. Drinking soda from an aluminum can. And this ad comes on:

Some of us have been warning for some time now that the Greens are the new fascists…. well, make that the old fascists, with a new propaganda twist.

Just to stick it to the man, I tossed my aluminum can into the trash.

UPDATE:  Did you see the smug expression on the Audi driver’s face as he was allowed to drive on?  Yeech.

At the party we were at, we all loved this ad. I thought it was quite anti-liberalism whether intentionally so or not.

Several I have spoken with found no humor in the ad whatsoever. I would agree. It’s where we are headed and that’s not funny.

I am bemused that since only the rich can afford new “green” cars, the poor are once again to be targeted by unjust police powers. It is, I suppose, only a matter of time until there is a “green subsidy” to enable poor people to buy upscale green products.

    Discounted Soylent Green?

I am soooo proud of you for throwing that can in the trash! That’s how I feel being so close to San Fran, which I believe is greener than even So Cal claims to be. I get stares from the Berkeley locals when I visit my husband at work for daring to wear my leather jacket, which I do with great pride! =D And this commercial, I tended to think similarly, but I realized it’s a parody. Completely making fun of the “Green Police” with their over-the-top measure. Making fun of the absurd by having it on display. And while we may eventually head in that direction, we aren’t there yet. So I say, laugh!

Noelle – I know it is bad up there. I grew up in Los Gatos. I have a very good friend who is into riding dirt bikes with his son. They are trying to close down the riding park – because they are afraid that the sound of the dirtbikes may hurt and endangered fish swimming in a stream. I didn’t even know that fish had audio sensitivity! Here is the kicker – the stream is only there a couple of times a year when it rains hard – but the fish “could” swim upstream when that happens.
